GYY 510 - New Product Development

Course Objectives

1. Familiarizing students with applications of relatively recent new product planning techniques
2. Teaching the use of market research data and marketing models for new product development and management
3. Introducing critical success factors and current developments in product design stages
4. Evaluating quality, time and cost based measures within the framework of new product development
5. Raising awareness of students about brand equity, intellectual property

Course Description

The main topics to be covered in this class are: product positioning, market segmentation, market share estimation, test marketing, product design, product development economics, product packaging, advertising testing and promotion, brand equity, and global product planning.
