Course Objectives		• to interpret the concept of culture through music • to re-read the topics of historical musicology through the concepts of culture, time, place, creation and performance. • to re-read world music cultures through the concepts of culture, time, place, creation and performance. • To appreciate historical musicologists’, ethnomusicologists’ and composers’ ideas about creation and improve a critical approach.
Course Description		Culture. Music Culture. Creation in Music Culture. Concepts of high culture and local culture. Music creation in high culture. Creation in local culture by the concepts of Barthes and postmodernism. Repertoire and performance analysis. Creation in world music cultures through the concepts of time and place. Musical traditions. Re-creation within a global approach. Indiviual and group creativity.
