Course Objectives
? To enlighten the students about the current and developing technologies which are used in emergency management
? To emphasize the role and applications of related technologies in the preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery phases of emergency management
? To understand the problems and issues which require the use of technology in emergency management
? To discover the existing problems in the use of technology in emergency management
Course Description
Introduction to technology in emergency management. Emergency management and the internet. Networks and communications systems. Spatial analysis: Application tools for vulnerability analysis (GIS). Warning systems. Direct sensing technology in emergency management. Emergency management related databases and systems. Remote sensing technology in emergency management. Hazards analysis and modeling. Decision support systems. Operational problems and technology. Emerging technologies. Issues involving technology and science
